Recording Artists Come Together to Launch TIDAL

With the internet and music streaming, artists can lose their masterpieces to piracy. Now, musicians and artists are taking back their music. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation purchased TIDAL. The “Hard Knock Life” rapper bought the company, Aspiro for $56 million and turned it into TIDAL. This will be considered one of the first ever celebrity-owned global music entertainment platform.
The announcement came Monday morning during a press conference. According to Rap-Up, “…Alicia Keys, Arcade Fire, Beyoncé, Daft Punk, Jack White, Jason Aldean, Chris Martin, Calvin Harris, J. Cole, Jay Z, Kanye West, deadmau5, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Usher. Each is considered a founding member and has an equity stake in the streaming company.”
Keys spoke on music-streaming company. “Our goal is simple. We want to create a better service and a better experience for both fans and artists. And that is our promise to the world. Our mission goes beyond commerce. It goes beyond technology. Our intent is to preserve music’s importance in our lives.”
TIDAL is said to provide high-quality music, HD music videos and the artists you love will be getting paid more than they would on Pandora, Spotify or other music streaming websites.
